In accordance with Art. 7 para. 2 lit. c of the Continuing Education Ordinance (FBO), continuing education events that receive credits from the competent institution of an EU/EFTA member state are in principle automatically recognised in Switzerland. However, individual decisions must be made by the relevant professional associations as to whether the foreign credits/points are recognised for continuing education.

The following agreements with Springer Medizin Verlag apply:

  • The Swiss Society of Internal Medicine awards 0.5 credits for Certified Continuing Education in Die Innere Medizin.
  • The Swiss Society of Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation awards 1 credit for the Certified Continuing Education in Die Anaesthesiologie.
  • The Swiss Society of Surgery awards 1 credit for Certified Continuing Education in Die Chirurgie.
  • The Swiss Society for Vascular Surgery awards 3 credits for the Certified Advanced Training in Gefaesschirurgie.
  • The Swiss Society of Orthopaedics awards 1 credit for the Certified Advanced Training in Die Orthopädie.
  • The Swiss Society of Ophthalmology awards 1 credit for Certified Continuing Education in Die Ophthalmologie.
  • The Swiss Society of Geriatrics awards 3 credits for Certified Continuing Education in Zeitschrift für Gerontologie und Geriatrie.
